Farewell Sail Nassau!

It’s the first week in December and we go for a sail, as we do. But on this day something is different… Everyone is there, all the partners, owners and een admin staff join us on this day. It was a great sail for most, I however had food poisoning the day before and was incredibly sea sick! No matter, toughen up… for today, we race! At the end of the day we docked the boats and sat down for the usual little debrief. Jason announces that great news! We all get Christmas off! Go home… and stay there. “I hope you enjoyed the sail today,” he says, “cause it was your last.” Just like that Sail Nassau is no more. The company has gone under and we were all rendered unemployed. Within 2 weeks all expats had gone home and only LeeJ and myself were left. We’ve been fixing up the tenders for sale and are awaiting word on the 2 cut boats. They may need to be pulled apart and put on the dry or delivered to Geneva or some such if sold. In the mean time it’s day work and the like. Trying to make ends meet and staying positive… our ship will come in – so to speak.

We have a few bits and pieces lined up for the upcoming weeks. Come end of Jan, Barry wants LeeJ and myself to sail Lady Penelope over to West Palm and give her an overhaul through Feb. We’ll live aboard and have a certain income for Feb. Yay!

Christmas was a quite affair the last straglers and orphans left in Nassau came round to ours for dinner. For which, once again, LeeJ out did himself! New Year’s is at Brent’s sister’s – Moulin Rouge!

So, should any of you know of any possible jobs, please do let us know!

All my love and best wishes to all for the New Year.
