02/02 rash decisions

I've declined the invitation to do my thesis this year and have rented out my flat in Rosebank (to some dude named Phibion). I have quit working in an office (or any artificially lit 4 walled host to a computer) and have GONE SAILNG!

With not much of a plan I headed for Cape Town in the company of my dear friend, Eugene. His sole purpose for the trip being the Vortex that weekend. Admittedly I wasn't going to miss the party either. (thanx 'gene) So, I got to CT Dec 2007, partied a tad and spent the next month enjoying the summer my JHB friends didn't - reading in the sun, having braai's with new friends (Nardus & co.) sampling wine and not stressing about a sodding thing.

January came and I met up with Sean, Adam, Andries and our new home and friend 'Enigma' (Fast 41'). Since then the four of us have been sailing Enigma to and fro between Hout Bay and Saldhana. There are a few other characters I've met and sailed with along the way, like Dylan, who hops on and off as suits him and Luke (Streicher - who do you even spell that?) a really funny Mossel Bay dude who'll be back in March.

The purpose of all this has been to get my RYA Coastal ticket so as to sail around the world to exotic places... and because it's fun & I can! So, that's the basics - I consider you all up to speed and duly informed. If that was too brief, you'll have to let me know.

Later, friends. njx
